RESIST AND EXIST

From Dec. 1990 - April 1992.

I used to read an old issue of Maximum Rock N Roll magazine to catch up with the UK political punk scene.  In the scene report by Dig he ended with a slogan ?Resist and Exist?.  I thought that was a powerful word.  AntiSect had a huge banner on the back ground as well that reads ?Resist and Exist? from their live performance picture, it?s also a song title by them.  I made my own shirt that read ?Resist and Exist? and performed at a Media Children rehearsal.  When I left that band I wanted to start a political punk band with a good political name.  When I heard the Antisect ?Out from the Void? ep, I was very disappointed.  It seems that they lost in touch with all the important issues that they once cared about and the spirit was not there.  Later on in MRR I read that they had drug problems and have changed.
I wanted to come up with a name that even if the band changed you wouldn?t be able to because of the name.  That?s when I thought that name ?Resist and Exist? was a good name for a band that sings about Human/Animal Rights issues.  We started in late 1990.  The band did their last show in April 1992.  The band did not last long.  Only One year and a half with two demo tapes out.

It was 1991 when the Gulf War broke out.  Their were anti-war protests going on all over the state and the country.  But it was not like the 60's because their were patriotic reactionaries that counter protested the Peace demonstrations.  During that time Media Children was very busy organizing benefit shows and street protests.  Jayd came back from Guam and got together with J.Lee to start a band called Resist and Exist with Chris, Larry, John and later on Cyhndi.  Both bands started to work together as close teams and wanted to change the world.  At shows they had protest banners, literature and they read poems and talked between songs about their beliefs.
